Llover sobre mojado

Spanish Lyrics

English Lyrics

me da prisa.

I awake to an erotic caress
and without it having dawned I’m burning up
I beg that before the end of this delight
the light will tell me whom it is I’m loving

I make a romantic, baroque coffee
and damp my head with cold water
and on the mirror I see the old mad man
that each day thinks it’s his day
that it’s his day

What a way to find out that it still wants to pour over damp

I read that there was slaughter and reward
that they retouch the death, the selfishness
I check the date on the newspaper
it seems that yesterday it said just the same thing

I give my preoccupied self into the lecture
about the daily events of our plot
and I learn from the culture section
that the past conquers new fame
new fame

What a way to find out that it still wants to pour over damp

I go outside and ask about an old friend
back from those hardly humane times
but the enemy has rotted him away from us
they’ve slaughtered his soul on our hands
it’s absurd to assume that paradise
is only equality, good laws

the dream is made by hand and without permission
plowing the future with old oxen
with old oxen.

What a way to find out that it still wants to pour over damp

A workman sees me, calls me an artist
he nobly lifts me up to his own height
and due to that kindness, my short sight
lengthens like a dream that ripens
and thus ends the day I hereby recount
with a flap of wings in the ashes

tomorrow shall return with renewed impact
the sun that evaporates me and hastens me,
hastens me

What a way to find out that it still wants to pour over damp

What a way to find out that it still wants to pour over damp

before you even begin to attempt to translate this song into english you must be aware that its title, “llover sobre mojado,” is an idiom. sorta like saying “salt to the wound,” or “insult to injury.”
‘vaya forma de saber,” which you translate as, “what a way to find out,” i believe, is closer to “go figure out a way to know,” or simply, “go figure,” “que aun quiere llover sobre mojado,” that it still wants to add salt to the wound.”
this is the crux of the song.
    no. the repeating figure.
the crux is, in my opinion, the end of the fifth verse, “absurdo supponer que el…,” which i think you translate well.
